Planewave CDK125 at Mount Kent

CDK125 on a Paramount
Planewave CDK125 with a Takahashi FSQ 106ED under development at Moore in 2010.

The Planewave Instruments CDK125 12.5-inch corrected Dall-Kirkham along with a Takahashi FSQ 106ED are ideal for student use. These instruments are at Mt. Kent and used interchangeably on the L-mount with software enabling remote live observing to students. Seen here, the FSQ was configured for one-shot color imaging with a Nikon camera, and the CDK for live planetary imaging with a fast Ethernet-interfaced CCD. Imaging technology has rapidly developed since then, and CMOS cameras with Sony back-illuminated sensors offer fast high resolution imaging in true color, or filterwheel imaging and photometry.
